Yesterday International Women’s Day was celebrated globally, a day inviting us to pause and recognize the achievements, creativity, leadership, and resilience of women everywhere. It’s a blooming celebration that tends to come with flowers, chocolates, and maybe even gifts because acknowledging the women in your life makes all the difference; even if it’s just with kind words.
Women wear multiple outfits as well as hats! We’re builders, artists, entrepreneurs, mothers, and leaders who shape our communities while pushing society forward. And here in South Florida, there was a beautiful way to celebrate a week long floral aesthetic leading up to International Women’s Day. Bal Harbour Shops gave elegance a step up with the internationally celebrated floral art exhibition Fleurs de Villes, transforming the luxury shopping destination into a living gallery of couture creativity.
It was a floral fashion festivity; life size mannequins dressed entirely in fresh flowers standing as breathtaking works of art. Each installation designed and inspired by talented florists and artists combining fashion and imagination to create a wonder of inspiration. As you walk though the stunning sculptures, each one more intriguing then the next, you can’t help but feel that creativity has no bounds, even your own!
There’s a reason that certain movements inspire some more than others. The exhibition turned the entire space into a visually stunning gallery with visitors walking from one mannequin to another inspiring joy and appreciation for creative visions brought to life. Events like Fleurs de Villes highlight incredible talent of floral artists and designers, many whom are women pushing boundaries in art, design and creative expression.
It was almost unreal, petals forming elegant gowns. Leaves becoming flowing textures, skirts accessorized with mesmerizing craftsmanship. Flowers in bloom reflect growth and beauty when nurtured. And International Women’s Day reminds us that when individuals are supported, encouraged, and given opportunities to thrive, their creativity takes new form. A creativity so remarkable that it has the power to reshape communities, similar to individual flowers coming together to create something far greater than the sum of their parts. Fleurs de Villes shows how art, community and appreciation shape aesthetic moments of inspiration and happiness!
